Matcha Tea CEREMONY

We had the honor of attending tea master Tatsu's matcha tea ceremony where he made matcha in 'USUCHA-HIRADEMAE' style.

Core tea ceremony principles are as follows:

“Wa" refers to all matters being peaceful and harmonious.

"Kei" is a modest attitude within which one shows respect for others:

not only people, but also all things.

“Sei" refers to the purity of objects and feelings.

“Jaku" refers to calm and unmoving presence.

Ideally these principles are to be practiced in life outside the tea room.
