WOOD BOARD

with @sageperry21 & @grainsurfboards

A few months ago, while working at a surf shop on Oahu, I crossed paths with Sage.

Sage had shaped her own wooden board with @grainsurfboards. While on the East Coast this past summer, I had the opportunity to check out Grain Surfboards located in York, Maine.

MATERIAL:

Grain uses Maine Northern White Cedar. Wood requires no foam center or fiberglass/epoxy, making the boards much more sustainable and durable.

PERFORMANCE:

Sage and Grain informed me that the latest 3D modeling technology has proven they perform almost identically to boards with foam cores. The main difference in the board's performance is that the wood tends to weigh more, therefore performs similar to a board that has received more layers of glassing.

SUSTAINABILITY:

“I like their mission to design and build surfboards that have more impact on your surfing and less impact on the environment."

"...aside from being more sustainable and lastIng a lifetime, "the shaping process has also helped me become a better surfer.”
